Adaptive sports festival held in Serpukhov

A large-scale sports festival for disabled people of the Moscow Region was held in Serpukhov, uniting participants from various cities of the region. The event took place in the Zvezda sports and recreation complex, where athletes demonstrated strength, agility and the will to win.

In the powerlifting competition, men competed in five categories, demonstrating their strength and endurance, while women fought for victory in three weight groups. In a parallel discipline, darts, participants with musculoskeletal disorders, general diseases, as well as wheelchair users and people with hearing impairments demonstrated accuracy and precision of throws. The progress of the competition was closely monitored by Moscow Regional Duma deputy Tatyana Karzubova, chairperson of the Serpukhov branch of the All-Russian Society of Disabled People. She noted an increase in the number of active participants every year, which indicates the popularization of the sports movement among people with special needs.
The origins of the festival go back to 2011, when it was first held among neighboring cities. Over time, the event received the status of an all-Russian event and became part of a large-scale program to support disabled people in sports. Today, the festival is organized with the support of the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of the Moscow Region, which emphasizes its importance and significance.
Each participant received memorable prizes for their efforts and achievements. The most distinguished were awarded medals and cups, which serves as additional motivation for people with disabilities to play sports and believe in themselves. Such competitions help overcome barriers, develop a sporting spirit and strengthen self-confidence.
