Hundreds of athletes compete in Acrobatic Gymnastics Championship in Albufeira

Next weekend, on the 17th (Saturday) and 18th (Sunday) of May, Albufeira will host the National Acrobatic Gymnastics 1st and 2nd Division Championships. The competition is confirmed to feature 239 athletes on Saturday and 215 on Sunday, representing 36 national clubs.
51 elite athletes are taking part in the competition, including the gymnasts who represented the National Team at the last European Championship, held last April in Luxembourg, where Portugal brought “home” 14 medals: eight in the senior category – four gold, one silver and three bronze, and six in the junior category – two gold, two silver and two bronze.
The Mayor of Albufeira, José Carlos Rolo, highlights that this is “a very important event for the municipality, since during the low tourist season it helped to reduce seasonality and boost the local economy”.
The event also has the advantage of being broadcast live on Ginástica TV.
The National Championship is organized by the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation, co-organized by Acro-Albuhera – Albufeira Gymnastics Club and with the institutional support of the municipality of Albufeira, IPDJ – Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth and the National Plan for Ethics in Sport.
