Albufeira hosts the 2025 National Acrobatic Gymnastics Championship

The participation of 239 athletes on Saturday and 215 on Sunday, representing 36 national clubs, is confirmed in the competition.
51 Elite athletes are taking part in this event, including the gymnasts who represented the National Team at the last European Championship, held last April in Luxembourg, where Portugal took home 14 medals: eight in the senior category; four gold; one silver and three bronze; and six in the junior category; two gold; two silver and two bronze.
The Mayor of Albufeira highlights that this is “a very important event for the municipality, since taking place during the low tourist season it has helped to reduce seasonality and boost the local economy”.
José Carlos Rolo is very pleased with the holding of the Championship, which once again confirms that «the municipality has the equipment and know-how to host major sporting events in various disciplines, which consolidates Albufeira's recognition as the European City of Sport in 2026», he stresses.
In turn, Cristiano Cabrita, the local authority's vice-president responsible for Sports, reiterates the president's opinion, highlighting that "it is always an added value for the municipality to host sporting events that, in addition to gymnasts, bring to Albufeira hundreds of coaches, delegates, judges, representatives of the clubs' governing bodies, as well as family and friends of the athletes who stay in our accommodation, eat in our restaurants and shop in local shops". The event also has the advantage of being broadcast live on Ginástica TV, highlighting Albufeira's potential in terms of sports tourism", he states.
The National Acrobatic Gymnastics 1st and 2nd Division Championship is organized by the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation, co-organized by Acro-Albuhera – Albufeira Gymnastics Club and with institutional support from the Municipality of Albufeira, IPDJ – Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth and the National Plan for Ethics in Sport.
On competition days, the venue is scheduled to open at 8:30 am, with the events starting at 10:00 am and the end of the competitions scheduled for 7:33 pm.
