Threatening a soccer referee cost them dearly: Gimnasia de Jujuy loses a key match.

AFA's harsh ruling: El Lobo Norteño gave up all three points to Deportivo Madryn in the Football Reduction due to threats against Judge Comesaña.
The AFA Disciplinary Tribunal declared Gimnasia y Esgrima (Jujuy) 3-0 in the match against Deportivo Madryn, which had been suspended due to threats from the "Lobo" leaders to the match referee Lucas Comesaña, for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Primera Nacional Reducido for the second promotion to the Professional Football League.
The match, which had been suspended eight days ago, was ultimately won by the "Aurinegro," who, in addition to facing the rematch with a significant score in their favor, have a sporting advantage.
The decision was made after analyzing the report submitted by Comesaña and the statements of both institutions. In its ruling, the Court fined the Jujuy club 2,500 tickets and confirmed the match forfeit, as established by Article 15.1 of the Disciplinary Code.
He also summoned President Walter Morales and Secretary Leandro Meyer to testify for their alleged involvement in the reported events.
With this determination, Deportivo Madryn heads into the second leg with a significant advantage, which will be played next Sunday, November 2, at 4:00 PM at the Abel Sastre Stadium.
The "Lobo" claimed that the events had been misinterpreted and asked for the remaining 45 minutes to be completed, but the AFA rejected the request and upheld the sanction.
"It was a very tense moment, something that should never happen in football," Comesaña said in his testimony, reaffirming that there were no safe conditions for the game to continue.
The incident occurred on October 19 at the “23 de Agosto” stadium, when Gimnasia was leading 1-0 at the end of the first half.
According to the referee, he received threats from local officials during halftime, which led him to suspend the match.
The subsequent investigation corroborated the incidents and resulted in an exemplary ruling that seeks to set a precedent in Argentine soccer , especially in promotion-deciding matches.
With a 3-0 deficit, Gimnasia de Jujuy is on the brink of elimination and must win by four goals in the second leg if it hopes to advance to the semifinals, as Deportivo Madryn has the advantage due to its higher position in the table.
