Racing: Santiago Sosa had a successful operation

Racing captain Santiago Sosa recovered well from surgery after the fracture against Flamengo in the Copa Libertadores.
Racing midfielder and captain Santiago Sosa underwent successful surgery for the fracture he suffered after colliding with teammate Marcos Rojo in the 1-0 defeat to Flamengo in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores semi-finals .
In the final moments of the match at the legendary Maracanã stadium, the central defender, who played for Boca Juniors, elbowed the midfielder in the face, leaving him with a black eye, a bloody nose, and a ruptured upper right sinus.
After the match against "Mengao," the 26-year-old La Plata native left for Buenos Aires with the rest of the Argentine squad to continue the procedure in Argentina. Once in Argentina, doctors indicated that the best course of action was to operate on him as soon as possible.
Thus, the presence of one of La Academia's key players has been ruled out for next Wednesday's return match against the Brazilians at the Cilindro de Avellaneda, where Gustavo Costas's team will seek to reverse the adverse result and seal their place in the final of the most prestigious tournament on the continent.
While there was initially a possibility that Sosa would play the match with protection on the affected area, Racing's coaching and medical staff ultimately determined that this was not advisable as it could compromise his vision.
On the other hand, if the Avellaneda team manages to overcome Flamengo and advance to the next round, it would be necessary to wait until the last minute to find out if the midfielder would be able to play on Saturday, November 29 in Lima, Peru, since the recovery period for this type of injury is expected to be between four and six weeks.
Meanwhile, Costas will have to decide in the coming days who will replace the player who emerged at River Plate and whether he will play with three center backs or add a player to the midfield.
If the former is chosen, the favorite to complete the defense would be Marco Di Cesare, while the midfield options would be Juan Nardoni or Matías Zaracho.
