'Canelo' Álvarez shows his recovery after surgery

After several weeks of silence following his loss to Terence Crawford, Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez returned to social media.

The Guadalajara-born boxer shared a photo on Instagram with his daughters María Fernanda and Eva Victoria. Although he looks relaxed and smiling, his fans noticed he's wearing a sling on his left arm , the result of recent surgery.

Álvarez underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left elbow on October 23, 2025 , to clean and repair damage accumulated over years of elite boxing. Sources close to the injury clarify that it is not related to his fight against Crawford, but rather to natural wear and tear on the joint.

Due to this recovery, Canelo's return to the ring is not expected to occur before mid-2026 . Although there is no confirmed opponent, there is speculation about a possible rematch against Crawford.
