A clear message from Syrian President Sharaa to Israel

Syrian President Ahmed Shara stated on Syria's official Al-Ikhbariyya channel that Syria has demonstrated its commitment to the 1974 Agreement and has sent a letter to the United Nations. Shara stated that they are demanding the reinstatement of the UN Ceasefire Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Golan Heights. Shara also stated that negotiations are underway on a security agreement that would allow Israel to return to its pre-December 8th position.
Shara stated that Syria is in a transitional period and that a constitution will be drafted after the elections and will include numerous details. Shara emphasized that the country's policy is based on simultaneous efforts in all areas.
Shara noted that the terrorist organization PKK/YPG, which uses the name SDF in Syria, does not represent the entire Kurdish component, adding that negotiations with the SDF are progressing well, but there are slowdowns or obstructions in the implementation of the agreement.
The Golan Heights, occupied by Israel since 1967, has been a focal point of tension between the two countries. The boundaries of the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone were defined in the Withdrawal Agreement signed on May 31, 1974. The agreement stipulated that the parties would cease all military operations on land, sea, and air and abide by the ceasefire. With US and Soviet observers present, the agreement went into effect under UN supervision.
