Corruption operation against Bayrampaşa Municipality: Mayor Mutlu detained

A large-scale operation was conducted in Istanbul as part of a corruption investigation targeting the CHP-run Bayrampaşa Municipality. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office issued detention warrants for 48 suspects, including Mayor Hasan Mutlu.
The investigation, launched by the prosecutor's office, reportedly covers crimes such as "extortion," "bribery," "aggravated fraud," and "tender rigging." As part of the investigation, investigations were conducted at units affiliated with the Bayrampaşa Municipality and areas associated with the suspects.
Istanbul Police Department Financial Crimes Branch teams conducted simultaneous operations this morning, raiding the suspects' addresses. Mayor Hasan Mutlu, along with numerous municipal staff and businesspeople, were detained.
Teams, in collaboration with the Bayrampaşa Municipality, searched the suspects' businesses and homes. In total, searches were conducted at 72 different addresses, and documents and digital materials considered evidence were seized.
The investigation's scope includes a detailed examination of alleged irregularities committed by the Bayrampaşa Municipality. The suspects are reportedly being processed at the police station, and the investigation is multifaceted.
