It is transmitted through water and leads to death: New epidemic alert from the World Health Organization

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that cholera cases are spreading rapidly worldwide and the death toll is rising. According to the latest WHO report, cholera outbreaks are currently occurring in 31 countries, resulting in 4,738 deaths.

“Given the scale and interconnected nature of the outbreaks, the risk of further spread within and between countries is very high,” the report warned.

Lack of infrastructure triggers

The WHO listed conflict, poverty, and inadequate infrastructure as the primary causes of the increase in outbreaks. It noted that the risk is particularly heightened in rural areas where access to clean water is limited and in areas affected by floods.

According to experts, cholera threatens the health of not only developing countries but also the entire world on a global scale. The WHO has called on countries to take urgent action and strengthen clean water and sanitation infrastructure.
