Boron Mineral Product Developed for Intestinal Diseases

Muharrem Cin, through the Research Laboratory Application and Research Center (KUYAM) at Kütahya Health Sciences University (KSBU), has developed a product that can be used in the treatment of intestinal diseases using boron mineral.
KSBU Faculty of Medicine established KUYAM in 2019. R&D studies, cell culture, preclinical research, and animal experiments are conducted here.
This project, supported by the Turkish Health Institutes (TÜSEB), aims to develop products for the treatment of intestinal diseases. Studies initiated at KUYAM three years ago have yielded positive results.
Three international scientific articles have been published so far regarding the product called "BOROBIYOTA" and a patent application has been made for the project.
After the product is patented, it is aimed to be used as both a functional food and an innovative product in healthcare.
KUYAM Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Kar, in a statement to an AA correspondent, stated that Türkiye has a strong R&D base in the field of health.
Kar emphasized Kütahya's boron reserves and stated that they are conducting important scientific research. He added that they aim to contribute to the national economy through their work in the field of health.
KAR reminded that they started working on intestinal diseases three years ago within the framework of TÜSEB projects.
He stated that intestinal diseases may be linked to brain health and that they have begun research in this area. It's known that millions of bacteria live in the intestines and that they are studying the effects of these bacteria on diseases.
Kar stated that when intestinal health deteriorates, the number of bacteria decreases or some beneficial bacteria are lost.
He stated that they are considering utilizing boron minerals in domestic and national products. It was stated that they are using these minerals to increase the number of beneficial bacteria.
Kar stated that boron increases the habitat of beneficial bacteria and prevents intestinal diseases. He emphasized that they are conducting experimental and cell culture studies in this area.
It was also announced that the experiments revealed its effects on the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
As a result, a product called "BOROBIYOTA" was developed that regulates intestinal health and helps treat diseases.
He reported that similar products in Türkiye are limited and that no other studies have been conducted using boron. The research center has demonstrated boron's effectiveness.
Microbiome analysis identified beneficial bacteria. A product prototype has been developed, and a patent application has been filed.
It was reported that a team of 10 people was involved in the work. This content was published by Devrim Karadağ .
