Horrific disease: Literally rotting from within! Ebola-like virus kills 8 people
An urgent health alert has been issued in Mweka, Kasai region, Democratic Republic of Congo, after eight people with Ebola-like symptoms died. Samples have been sent for analysis, and experts suspect it may be Marburg virus.
"EYE BLEEDING DISEASE"Marburg virus is a deadly disease related to Ebola. It causes severe internal bleeding and can cause patients to bleed from organs like the eyes and nose. In the areas where the outbreak has spread, there is widespread public fear.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also issued a warning about cholera, another deadly disease rapidly spreading in the region. This year, more than 400,000 cases have been reported in 31 countries alone, resulting in approximately 5,000 deaths.
WHO announced that the epidemic has reached very serious dimensions, especially in Chad, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan and Sudan, and that case fatality rates have exceeded 1% in these countries.
In its statement, the WHO warned that the pandemic could cross national borders due to factors such as war, migration, poor hygiene, and lack of access to clean water. Experts believe that the frequent movement of people in these regions facilitates the spread of the disease.
Although there is no official travel ban at the moment, experts warn that travelers to these areas should be very careful.
