The scout repelled enemy attacks for six hours, saving his wounded comrade

This combat episode took place in the area of ​​responsibility of the Dnepr group. Two scouts of the 49th Army came under a massive attack by Ukrainian drones, one was wounded, but the second managed to save his comrade.

It was a routine scouting mission. Alexey, call sign "Prince", and Alexander, call sign "Don", replaced their comrades and took up combat duty on a small island at the mouth of the Dnieper. The main task was to observe enemy actions in their sector.

Their observation post (OP) is a shallow dugout in a rocky area. From here, our guys monitor the right bank held by the Ukrainian Armed Forces around the clock. Any movement of enemy troops or the takeoff of their drones is immediately reported to the command.

Observation is conducted covertly. Leaving the dugout, leaving trash behind, smoking, making a fire, or even relieving oneself nearby is strictly prohibited. These are the strict rules of total camouflage. Our soldiers have never revealed their location. However, that day the enemy decided to conduct a "carpet bombing" by dropping ammunition from drones. Other nearby islands were also attacked, where we did not even have patrols.

As "Knyaz" tells us today, dozens of drones suddenly and simultaneously started whirring in the sky. "Knyaz" managed to report to the command about the start of the drone raid. The aim of the flying armada, as it turned out later, was to destroy our advanced forces on the islands.

The drops followed one after another. The scouts opened return fire on the drones. Unfortunately, the dugout could not reliably protect the fighters: "Don" was seriously wounded in the head, and after another attack by a drone with an incendiary warhead, the OP caught fire.

"Prince" bandaged his comrade. He rushed to put out the fire with everything he had at hand. He dealt with the fire, and there were fewer drones. Having seized the moment, he contacted "team medicine" via "radio". He described the nature of "Don's" injury and received instructions on how to keep his comrade conscious.

- It was a whole operation to resuscitate someone injured during an enemy bombing, - Alexey recalls, - The main thing then was not to lose him, to bring him to his senses and consciousness. Our doctors told me what could be injected and what should never be injected. Perhaps this saved Sasha's life...

Meanwhile, enemy drones attacked again. Having exposed the deployment of our patrol, the enemy tried to destroy the scouts for sure. The drones flew in again and again, circling above the dugout. Before nightfall, for six hours straight, "Prince" had to repel air raids by Ukrainian drones and, at the same time, keep his partner conscious.

During one of their short breaks, Alexey noticed that his friend had become very ill. It was necessary to return him to the perception of reality at any cost. The doctors advised reminding the wounded man of some vital or emotionally important episode from his life. For some reason, the "Prince" remembered how on New Year's Eve Father Frost and Snow Maiden suddenly appeared at the scouts' location. They were the political officer and one of his fellow soldiers in disguise, who arranged a real New Year's celebration. Sashka, receiving a gift from Father Frost, joked to his comrades: "I told you: he exists!" Everyone laughed.

"Do you remember?" asked the "Prince" to his comrade. He did not answer, but when he looked closely, he saw tears running down the bloody face of his wounded comrade. The "Don" was smiling and crying at the same time.

"We'll celebrate more than one New Year together! You'll see!" he supported his wounded comrade. "Just promise me that you won't leave me alone here in this den..."

Having waited until dusk, the “Prince” carried the wounded comrade to the boat, and they silently glided along the Dnieper to the evacuation point, where they were already awaited...

So Alexey managed to save Alexander. The wounded man was promptly evacuated to a medical center, where he was given all the necessary assistance. Now in the hospital "Don" is recovering, already getting back on his feet. Thanks to "Prince" and the doctors, the soldier's life was saved.

For courage and dedication shown in the performance of his military duty, Alexey was nominated by the command of the military unit for a state award.
