Vicente Gonçalves, a young hockey player from Académica, has passed away.

Vicente Gonçalves, a young roller hockey player from Académica, passed away this Thursday, the Roller Hockey and Skating Section of the Coimbra Academic Association announced today on social media.

In the publication, the section states that "with deep regret, Académica mourns the passing of Vicente, who left us unexpectedly after days of a tremendous struggle for his life." The young man, born in 2006, had been hospitalized since last week after suffering a cardiac arrest while playing soccer with friends.

The Skating Section of the Coimbra Academic Association states that “we remember Vicente fondly, for his youthful spirit, dedication and passion for roller hockey, where he honored the colors of Académica.”

"In this moment of immense pain, Académica extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends, sharing the sadness and solidarity of our entire community," it added.
