Rafael Obrador arrived at Benfica this summer, and his influence on the Eagles' very positive start to the season was minimal. But the player expected this to be the case. The youngster, who debuted on Friday with a stunning goal in the Spanish U-21 tournament, was prepared to not be Bruno Lage's first choice at this early stage of the season. In fact, the defender sees Benfica as a medium-term project, recognizing that he still lacks experience at this demanding level, but considers this challenge the ideal step to establish himself as an elite player. The example of Álvaro Carreras, his compatriot who left the Eagles to join Real Madrid's first team, also helped him make this decision.
