Swimming: Condeixa Aqua Clube dominates the open water circuit

The swimmers of Condeixa Aqua Clube continue to dominate the national open water swimming scene. A special mention goes to athlete Beatriz Cardeal, who won the 9th and 10th events of the National Open Water Circuit, held over the weekend.
On Saturday, in Montargil (Alto Alentejo), the IX Montargil Reservoir Crossing took place, organized by the Central Interior Swimming Association, with support from the Portuguese Swimming Federation, Ponte de Sor City Council and Montargil Parish Council.
Duarte Marques, a swimmer for Condeixa Aqua Clube who had also won the previous event in Albufeira, finished the 3,000-meter race in 36:47.2 minutes, 1:14.5 minutes behind the second-place finisher and his teammate Rafael Rodrigues (38:01.7 minutes). In 3rd place, also from Condeixa Aqua Clube, was José Marques (38:23.4 minutes).
In the women's category, victory went to Beatriz Cardeal (38:38.2 seconds), who outperformed her sister Joana Cardeal (2nd place with 39:55.3 minutes) and Helena Rodrigues (40:04.5 minutes) – all from Condeixa Aqua Clube. This is Beatriz Cardeal's second victory, after winning the fourth race of the circuit, Douro Valley, in São João da Pesqueira.
