Portugal begins its title defense in the Beach Soccer Superfinal with a defeat

The Portuguese beach soccer team, reigning champions of the European League, debuted today with a defeat in the 2025 Superfinal against Belarus, by 4-3, after having been winning by 3-1. Bé Martins and André Lourenço (2), athletes from Buarcos 2017, scored the goals for the Portuguese team.
In Viareggio, Italy, Bê Martins, after five minutes, opened the scoring in the first round of Group A, but Hapon equalized in the 11th minute, setting the result at the end of the first period, which André Lourenço undid in the 13th minute, putting the team led by coach Mário Narciso back in the lead.
When André Lourenço scored twice at the start of the second half, in the 26th minute, Portugal seemed to have come very close to securing victory, but two goals scored by the Belarusians in the same minute, in the 27th, through Piatrouski and Novikau, brought back the uncertainty regarding the winner.
A disagreement between goalkeeper Pedro Mano and André Bernardo allowed Hapon to complete the unexpected comeback in the 29th minute, which the Portuguese team, record holder of titles, with nine trophies won, was unable to counter.
Portugal will face Italy on Wednesday – who they beat 5-1 in the final of the last edition – in the second round of Group A, which also includes France and in which only the top two teams qualify for the semi-finals.
