Recognize Palestine in September? I suggest the 11th

Oh, my beautiful August, The pilgrimages, the red sky and the smoky moonlight!

What better way to begin than by remembering Nel Monteiro's My Beautiful August ? (And not Dino Meira's My Beloved Month of August . Maybe you want to work on those lyrical references a bit.) There would be. Probably any other way would be better. Except remembering Dino Meira's My Beloved Month of August . That's why I chose Nel Monteiro's My Beautiful August .

Well, it's summer, everything is burning.

Thank you very much and good morning.

That's basically it, isn't it? It's about coping. In fact, in several parts of the country, it seems that not only has this inevitability been accepted, but since everything is going to burn anyway, they're now letting it burn with flair. So, at the Marinhais Festival in Santarém, fireworks are set off 30 minutes before a red alert. Care must be taken to anticipate the launch of the pyrotechnics so that the last ten bursts coincide with the ten-second countdown to the alert. Some will call it childishness; I emphasize rigor and professionalism.

But for those who prefer childishness, we have the controversy sparked by the Minister of Labor, Solidarity, and Social Security, Maria do Rosário da Palma Ramalho, regarding breasts. The minister claims to be aware of cases in which "children appear to continue to be breastfed (...) until they are in primary school." Three points on this, to convey the idea of structured reasoning and not just something I'm thinking about as I write ( wink, wink ):

First: I don't know, I confess, how often little Zezinho spends the break between Math and Environmental Studies having a snack from his mother's breast.

Second: unlike the overpopulation hysterics, the only thing I find wrong with children is that they're so few—and sometimes too close together. And they make noises. And they pick things out of their noses and put them in their mouths. When I'm watching. Other than that, everything's perfect with them.

Third: judging by the hysterical reactions of some of those hysterical professionals who, in between being hysterical about breastfeeding, are hysterical about overpopulation, without grasping the irony, the minister may have a point. After all, we're talking about people who, if they can, only stop sucking from the breast(s) they can get their hands on when they retire. Then, they stop, take out their dentures, and go back to sucking from the breast(s).

So, in just a few days, the Portuguese state acknowledges a breastfeeding problem and threatens to recognize Palestine as early as September. Now, I suggest the following: If the Portuguese government so desires to reward Hamas's terrorist acts of October 7th, it should do so on September 11th. Thus, invoking the anniversaries of two of the most despicable acts of terrorism in living memory, in a single, grand celebration of carnage. If this coincidence—a very fortunate one!—doesn't provoke an overly explosive reaction from Hamas and/or Al-Qaeda terrorists, by the way, I don't know if there will be disagreements between different branches of psychopathy.

Okay, but how did I get here if I was talking about breasts? Let's refocus, noting the following: not everyone who recognizes Palestine finds Sydney Sweeney's ad for jeans Nazi; but almost 100% of those who do find the ad Nazi recognize Palestine. These latter are the type of people often said to "confuse Nazism with pants."

When they should have calmed down and listened carefully to the message of the advertisement. It simply states that Sydney Sweeney "has good genes." It doesn't say that she "has better genes than genes A or B." And much less does it say that she "has the best genes." Although she clearly has the best genes. At the very least, they could confidently say that Sydney Sweeney has better genes than 99% of the overpopulation hysterics who think the ad is Nazi and recognize Palestine.
