FC Barcelona opens disciplinary proceedings against goalkeeper

FC Barcelona opened disciplinary proceedings against German goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen on Tuesday after the footballer refused to sign a medical data document to be provided to the Spanish League.

According to a club source, the Blaugrana were trying to justify the prolonged absence of their regular captain, who suffered a back injury, to gain an advantage in terms of financial fair play and be able to register new signings.

The 33-year-old goalkeeper recently underwent back surgery and an absence of four months or more would allow Barça to use 80% of the German footballer's salary to register players.

The refusal of the 33-year-old goalkeeper, who appears to have no future in Hansi Flick's team, could make it impossible for FC Barcelona to register the contract of young goalkeeper Joan Garcia, signed for this season, and the renewal of Wojciech Szczesny.
