All About John Miller, Jennifer Garner’s Boyfriend of 5+ Years

Jennifer Garner has had an off-again-on-again relationship with John Miller since 2018, but their pairing doesn’t get as much attention compared to her ex-husband Ben Affleck’s short marriage to Jennifer Lopez. That seems to be how Garner and Miller prefer it. After her divorce from Affleck, Garner seemed to have enough of celebrity relationships and the publicity that comes with them.

In May 2022, a source told Us Weekly that Miller is on the same page as Garner, explaining, “She loves how little he cares for the limelight or the whole Hollywood scene-ster stuff...Very different from Ben and J.Lo’s relationship in that way. You’ll never see them ham it up for the cameras or fixate about what events to attend together; it’s just not their style.”

The source added, “They’re happier being a regular, under-the-radar couple and don’t need anyone else’s validation to know they’re meant to be together. That’s not to say they’re taking digs against others; it’s just not them.”

In March 2025, they remain happily together; Garner’s relationship with Affleck hasn’t changed that, sources said.

Miller is a businessman who works as the CEO of CaliBurger and its parent company, CaliGroup. From 2004 to 2010, he worked at Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals as the VP of intellectual property, and he is also an attorney.

The divorce between Affleck and Garner was finalized in 2018. That same month, a source told Us Weekly that the new couple had been together for six months already. She and Affleck had been separated since 2015, and continued to co-parent their three children, Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.

Miller was still married himself when he and Garner got together. His divorce from Caroline Campbell, with whom he shares two children, was finalized about a month later that same year.

In August 2020, the couple had a brief split because there were some issues around commitment—from Garner.

“He was ready for marriage, and she just couldn’t commit,” said a source at the time. Less than a year later, in spring 2021, they got back together and have stayed strong since.

She’s reportedly still not ready, but it’s not because of him. A source told Us Weekly in January 2023 that Garner was very committed to Miller but not quite ready to tie the knot with anyone.

“Jennifer adores John and still sees a long-term future with him. There’s no desire on her part to slow things down, spend less time together or anything like that,” a source told the outlet. “She’s just decided after a lot of thought that she’s just not in a hurry to rush down the aisle just yet and that she feels perfectly happy cherishing and enjoying what they have—for now—without a formal label.”

The two men have respect for each other, a source told Us Weekly at the end of November 2023: “Ben is super down-to-earth, and so is John. They have a mutual respect for each other and are always very friendly with one another.”

In March 2025, a source reiterated that to Page Six, saying, “Ben respects Jen’s relationship with John [Miller] and would never come between them.”

"She’s happy with John," a source told People one day after Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck in August 2024, shutting down any reconciliation rumors between Garner and Affleck. Doubling down on this, another source told TMZ that the couple’s relationship has not changed amid the news.

On Friday, August 23, they were seen leaving a romantic dinner together in Malibu. She wore a grey-blue cardigan and a silver pendant, leaving her hair down. Miller wore a white T-shirt and plaid cover up. They seemed to be engaged in a deep conversation, but laughed as they got into their shared car.

Yes, a source told Us Weekly in 2023: “Jen and John want to take their time to plan out the specifics as far as the type of ceremony they want, where to live and whether or not they’ll need a prenup. All that will come, but on their own timetable.”

Yes, they were photographed holding hands on Friday, October 4. Miller was in a red hoodie and jeans, while Garner wore a pink sweater and print skirt. The couple had been on an evening walk in Brentwood Park. See photos here.

On November 9, they were seen again, getting coffee together in Los Angeles. Garner wore black legging and a navy sweater, while Miller was in a gray jacket, black top, and blue jean. He had an arm on Garner’s back as they walked.

Yes, in December 2024. On the weekend ahead of Christmas, Garner was seen in Los Angeles wearing a diamond ring on her left hand on her ring finger, along with a gold band. In the photo, she is driving her car and the rings can be seen through the window. She was reportedly seen wearing just the band in October, sparking engagement rumors between her and Miller.

They are just fine. On March 5, a source told People, “John is a fantastic boyfriend. Their relationship is very normal.”

In mid-February, a source told Us Weekly that Miller is not concerned about her spending time with Affleck. “Everything is fine with John and Jen,” the source said. “Those close to them haven’t heard of any issues.”

On March 9, Miller was photographed arriving at Garner’s house, further signifying the couple remains together.

Garner and Miller were seen walking on April 20 in photos shared by TMZ. The couple was in front of her home in Los Angeles, heading to Miller’s truck. They gave one another a parting kiss before the business man headed off. According to a source, they’d just spent the day together with Garner’s kids and her friends from church.

On June 6, Garner was photographed kissing Miller outside of his home in Los Angeles, in pics shared by TMZ. The actress was wearing a blue plaid shirt with black pants and Miller had on a gray T-shirt and jeans.
