The Polish State Railways (PKP) ran out of cars. Passengers were unaware of what was happening.

Passengers on the Intercity "Jagiełło" train from Lublin to Kraków were unable to sit on the train, even though their seat number was listed on their ticket. Despite having purchased a seat, during the journey, it turned out that several passengers were demanding access to the same seat at the same time. This was due to a PKP (Polish State Railways) malfunction that reduced the train's capacity from eight carriages to four. "No one explained the reasons for these complications. The train started moving. Crowds of people with suitcases and children were standing in the aisles, and the temperature inside reached 30 degrees Celsius," one passenger told "Gazeta Wyborcza."
Chaos on the PKP train. No more seats. The incident occurred on the first Sunday in August. The train departed from Lublin, and at the time, no one realized the chaos that would soon ensue. "It was a train where you had to have a seat purchased, meaning reservations were mandatory. Once the passengers had taken their seats, more people started boarding, claiming we were sitting in their seats. A commotion ensued," recalls Fatima, who was on board.
In the meantime, the carriage numbers had been swapped, so passengers were seated in different carriages than they had originally been assigned. No one on the crew initially explained the complications, and arguments broke out between passengers. However, the train manager eventually informed the passenger that there were fewer than expected carriages – instead of eight, only four were available. More were to be added in Kielce.
Passengers can file complaintsFor the two-hour journey to Kielce, passengers were crowded in the corridor while more passengers boarded the train. Dissatisfied Intercity customers assured them they would file a complaint, which, according to a spokesperson for the carrier, they have the right to do. A PKP Intercity representative also explained the fault with the train, which consists of two connected electric units. "On Sunday, August 3rd, a fault occurred in one of the units. Due to the inability to replenish the train, the train departed the station as a single unit," the statement read.
Another tourist recently complained about the quality of the Polish carrier's services. The main complaint was a lack of clear communication with passengers, which resulted in the traveler losing his luggage.
