A record-breaking month at a Polish airport. These destinations are summer hits.

Wrocław Airport recently reported its July results. During the first month of the summer holidays, it served 614,804 passengers, an 18.6% increase compared to 2024.

Alicante wins in Wrocław… and beyond

The Spanish city of Alicante on the Costa Blanca was unrivaled and became the destination of the month. The historic port city, home to attractions such as a castle and beach, has been attracting crowds of tourists for years. It's also a sure bet for airlines.

"Alicante and Spain are the top destinations from virtually all airports in Poland. Poles love Alicante, and any addition of a new connection or increase in rotation in this direction is destined for success," Alicja Wójcik-Gołębiowska told "Wprost" last year.

Data from the Civil Aviation Authority showed that in the first quarter of 2024 alone, the number of tourists flying from Polish cities to and from Alicante increased by nearly 75 percent. It is possible that this is also due to the growing Polish community there.

Popular routes also included other sunny destinations in southern Europe – Zadar in Croatia, the Mediterranean island of Malta, and Rome. In June, over 10,000 passengers chose each of these destinations in Wrocław.

Here Poles fly with a travel agency

Where did Poles fly with travel agencies in July? Turkey, despite a slight decline in Antalya's visitor numbers , remains the king of charter flights. Antalya on the Turkish Riviera was the most popular destination for travelers in southern Poland. Heraklion in Crete came in second, and the Turkish resort of Bodrum on the Aegean Sea came in third. Charter flights were 96.6 percent full.

Although low-cost airlines generated the most traffic in the first half of the year, long-haul routes are also gaining popularity. "In this context, it's worth emphasizing the growing popularity of the Wrocław-Seoul connection offered by LOT Polish Airlines – 11,000 passengers used it in the first half of the year," Wrocław Airport reported.
