The parents of a 15-year-old boy who, while returning from a vacation in Spain, accidentally found himself alone on a plane to Milan. The young Briton didn't have a ticket for the flight, but that didn't stop him from boarding the easyJet flight. "We are investigating this matter with the airport and the ground handling company," the airline said.

15-year-old mixed up planes

It all happened on Monday, August 4th, at Menorca Airport, where a British family was returning to London Stansted from their holiday on the Spanish island. The passengers had booked tickets to return home on a TUI flight, but one of them unexpectedly found himself on board the easyJet flight. A 15-year-old boy suddenly separated from his family and walked through the security gate for a flight to Italy. "The boy's parents raised the alarm, and when police reviewed airport surveillance footage, they discovered that the boy had managed to board the flight to Milan Malpensa without a ticket," writes The Guardian.

The teenager was picked up by staff in Milan, where he waited for one of his parents to arrive. The boy's mother boarded the first available flight and picked him up from the airport on Monday. The trip had been arranged by the airline, which led to the oversight.

The lack of a ticket did not prevent the journey

According to police reports, the boy's missing ticket was discovered only by cabin crew members on the plane. The airline is investigating.

This isn't the first time that the lack of a ticket hasn't prevented air travel. This isn't always a coincidence – in the past, passengers have repeatedly attempted to board despite lacking authorization. Even if they ultimately managed to fly, such actions usually resulted in police intervention.
