Dutch U21 team reaches European Championship quarter-finals after victory over Ukraine U21

The Dutch Juniors are in the quarterfinals of the European Championship. The young professional footballers of national coach Michael Reiziger needed a 2-0 victory over Ukraine to reach the last eight as number 2 of Group D. The Dutch Juniors will play against the Portuguese Juniors (winner of Group C) on Saturday for a place in the semifinals.
Reiziger started with a team that had been changed in three places against Ukraine. The national coach replaced striker Noah Ohio with Thomas van Bergen. Furthermore, there were starting places for Rav van den Berg and Million Manhoef.
The Dutch youth team knew that after a draw against the Finnish youth team (2-2) and a defeat against the Danish youth team (0-1), they had to win against Ukraine to advance. The Dutch youth team took the lead after 34 minutes through Luciano Valente. The midfielder tapped the ball in after an assist from Ruben van Bommel. Van Bergen made it 2-0 in the 57th minute. Substitute Youri Regeer received a red card for dangerous contact in the 82nd minute. He is suspended against Portugal.
