Macron, Merz, Starmer and Tusk in Kiev: candles at the war memorial

Joint visit of European leaders to Ukraine
(LaPresse) Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, Donald Tusk and Keir Starmer arrived in Kiev on Saturday in a joint show of support for Ukraine, as calls intensify for Russia to agree to a month-long ceasefire in the more than three-year-old war. The leaders of France, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom arrived at Kiev's train station. They then, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska, paid tribute to war victims at the Memorial to the Fallen on Kiev's Independence Square. It is the first time the leaders of the four European countries have made a joint visit to Ukraine.
