Zeynep Sönmez will take to the court at Wimbledon to make history

National tennis player Zeynep Sönmez will face Russian tennis player Ekaterina Aleksandrova in the third round of the season's third grand slam tournament, Wimbledon, tomorrow.
Zeynep Sönmez will play her third round match at the event in London, the capital of Britain, after 13:00 Turkish time.
The winner of this match will face the winner of the Belinda Bencic (Switzerland) – Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy) match in the 4th round.
Having become the first Turkish tennis player to reach the third round at Wimbledon and the first national player to reach this level in all Grand Slam events since 1950, Sönmez will once again make history if she emerges victorious tomorrow.
If Sönmez defeats his Russian opponent, he will be the first and only Turkish athlete to advance to the fourth round in the history of the Grand Slam events.
Zeynep Sönmez said that she wanted to continue in the same way and leave her next match with a tour ticket.
The 23-year-old national athlete, who knocked out world number 32 Chinese Xinyu Wang 7-5 in the second round of Wimbledon, where she competed in the main draw for the first time, spoke as follows:
"I think I fought very well. I played against a strong opponent. I didn't start well but I'm very happy that I was able to come back and win."

Sönmez stated that all athletes can beat each other at the Grand Slam level and continued as follows:
"Of course it's a big step for Türkiye, but it's only the third round of the tournament. We're closer to the beginning of the tournament than the end.

“I will do my best and try to win my next match.”
