Kars flooded! Houses remained under water

The downpour that has been continuing intermittently for two days in Kars has been negatively affecting life. The heavy hail and showers that were effective in the evening hours turned into floods.
In the villages of Derecik and Ölçülü in the center, animals died, some houses and barns were flooded, and cars, tractors and agricultural equipment were damaged.
Upon notification, the Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD), fire department, gendarmerie, Provincial Special Administration and health teams were dispatched to the villages.
Three people trapped in their homes in the village of Ölçülü were rescued by AFAD and firefighters. Provincial Special Administration teams also opened the way for culverts blocked by floodwaters. Some citizens drained the water from their homes with buckets.
Ayhan Kanbay, whose house in the village of Derecik was flooded, told reporters that this was the first time he had seen such flood water, saying, "Our house was suddenly flooded, our fuel and poultry were gone, the barn was flooded. We had calves, we cannot enter the barn, we do not know if they drowned."
Güven Taşkıran from the village of Ölçülü also stated that the water came suddenly and said, "The water entered the garden wall and then filled all the rooms. This is the first time I have seen something like this."
Damage assessment work initiated by AFAD teams continues.
