Ukraine and Canada sign defense agreement

Zelenskyy shared details of his meeting with Carney in Kiev in a post on the social media platform of the US -based X company.
Thanking Carney for his visit to Kyiv on Ukraine's 34th Independence Day, Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to "Canada, one of the first countries to recognize Ukraine's independence."
Zelenskyy stated that diplomacy and Canada's contributions to the reconstruction of Ukraine were discussed during the meeting, and that they signed cooperation agreements with Carney in the fields of security, defense and energy.
Expressing his satisfaction with Canada’s intention to join NATO’s “Ukraine’s Priority Needs List” (PURL) program, which includes the supply of US weapons and equipment to Ukraine, Zelenskiy stated that they had reached an agreement to direct the funds allocated by Canada specifically to drone production.
Following Ukraine's 34th Independence Day events, Carney announced that 2 billion Canadian dollars (approximately 1.46 billion US dollars) in aid would be provided to Ukraine for the procurement of unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles and other military equipment.
