Traffic congestion occurred in Istanbul due to the rain

Heavy rainfall in Istanbul in the morning hours caused traffic congestion throughout the city. From early in the morning, vehicle queues formed, especially on main arteries and at bridge crossings. According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) traffic density map, the citywide density rate was measured at 80 percent as of 8:30 a.m. As the rain intensified, traffic on the Anatolian side rose to 90 percent. Long vehicle queues formed on the D-100 highway, the TEM Highway, and connecting roads on both sides, with traffic coming to a standstill in places, especially on the Anatolian side. According to the warning from the General Directorate of Meteorology, rain is expected to continue intermittently throughout the day across Istanbul.
