The signatures arrived at midnight, CHP leader Özgür Özel gave a date: Wait for September 9!

While all eyes are on the congress case to be heard on September 15th, the CHP , which has decided to hold an extraordinary congress as a countermeasure, is experiencing some exciting times. Yesterday's decision by the Supreme Election Council (YSK) lifted the ban on CHP district congresses in Istanbul. An application to appoint a trustee to the provincial headquarters was also rejected.
CHP'S COUNTERMOVE: EXTRAORDINARY CONGRESS DECISIONThe CHP, on the other hand, decided to hold an extraordinary congress for the second time in a year in order to overcome the judicial clampdown on the congress and convention processes.
The signatures were delivered to the Çankaya District Election Board at midnight, after the election board's gates were opened. In other words, the decision was made directly by the delegates, not the current administration. Party insiders are interpreting this choice as "a clear statement of will, unlike the previous extraordinary congress."
In Mustafa Balbay’s article in Cumhuriyet, the first assessment came from CHP leader Özgür Özel after the said YSK decision.
Balbay, who announced that he met with the CHP leader at headquarters last night, reported that Özel made the following assessment:
"This is the best possible decision under these circumstances. The Supreme Election Council (YSK) declared, 'I am the owner of the election processes.' Under these circumstances, Özgür Çelik is once again the CHP Istanbul provincial chair in five weeks. We will announce the date of our grand congress on September 9th. Our 39th ordinary congress will likely be held at the end of November."
