Prayers were held for Gaza and the students at the Fatih Mosque

In Istanbul, the Cihannüma Association organized a "Families Gather for Morning Prayer for Gaza" program to commemorate the start of the 2025-2026 academic year and to commemorate those who lost their lives in the Israeli attacks on Gaza. The program, held at the Fatih Mosque, was attended by the President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, association officials, and numerous citizens. Erbaş led the morning prayer, followed by recitations from the Quran. Prayers were offered for students, for the reopening of schools, for those who lost their lives in the Israeli attacks on Gaza, and for an end to the massacres.
Following the prayer, following the prayers and recitation of salawat, Erbaş addressed the congregation. Erbaş emphasized the importance of religious education for children. He noted that there are approximately 20 million students in the country, from kindergarten to university, and that the student population exceeds the population of 100 countries. He stated that this represents a great wealth and fortune for the country and emphasized the need to raise qualified and morally upright generations. Emphasizing the need to care for children, Erbaş emphasized the importance of raising individuals with good morals. In his speech, Erbaş also touched on the events in Palestine.
Erbaş stated that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and that the oppression must end immediately. "There is oppression in Gaza, there is occupation in Palestine. The Zionist occupiers are committing genocide there, right before the eyes of the world," he said. Erbaş stated that material and moral aid to the Palestinians would continue. "As all Muslims, as the whole world , as conscientious people, we pray. And let us say 'Amen' in such a way that the angels in the sky will understand our amen," he said.
