Speaking at the ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum said, "No matter what anyone says or who pursues any agenda, just as we did in the earthquake zone, we will lay the foundations for this massive project and deliver homes to our citizens. I hope that our 500,000 new homes will be beneficial to our noble nation. This promise is not a simple one. This promise is the promise of experience building 550 homes a day in earthquake zones."

The groundbreaking ceremony for 500,000 social housing units as part of the "Housing of the Century" project was held in the Kayabaşı neighborhood of Başakşehir. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, and numerous guests and citizens attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum stated that they viewed urban transformation efforts as a "defense of the homeland," saying, "We wanted our mothers to not have to fear earthquakes, and we wanted our children to grow up safely. Today, our urban transformation projects continue unabated in all 81 provinces. 200,000 of our working brothers and sisters in the earthquake zone are delivering 23 houses every hour. We are completing 453,000 houses by the end of the year so that our earthquake-affected citizens can return to their homes even a minute earlier."

The institution highlighted the ongoing housing construction and transformation projects across Turkey, stating, "Our disaster-proof housing is rapidly rising in İzmir, Balıkesir, and Bilecik. We are a nation that rebuilds what has been destroyed in this region. Our promise is not a simple one. This promise is the promise of experience building 550 houses a day in earthquake zones."

Kurum, noting that projects initiated under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's leadership are continuing unabated, said, "No matter what anyone says or who pursues any agenda, just as we did in the earthquake zone, we will lay the foundations for this giant project and deliver homes to our citizens. I hope that our 500,000 new homes will be beneficial to our cherished nation."
