The number of farmers participating in the agricultural census exceeded 2.7 million

According to information obtained from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), data such as agricultural areas, other non-agricultural areas at the disposal of agricultural enterprises, agricultural tools and machinery, and agricultural employment are compiled within the scope of the general agricultural census studies carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
In this context, Census Committees were established in accordance with relevant legislation, chaired by the Governor or a designated Deputy Governor in the provinces and the District Governor in the districts. Census offices were established at 973 locations under these committees. Representatives of identified and registered agricultural businesses were invited to the census offices by appointment. Those who wish to complete their own surveys online can complete their surveys with e-Government authentication. Additionally, telephone surveys are administered to agricultural businesses with a low response load. Additional measures are being implemented to ensure that data is collected on-site for farmers who cannot visit the census offices or complete their surveys online.
As part of the first phase of the general agricultural census, identified agricultural lands not included in existing records, as well as the agricultural enterprises that manage them, were recorded. Since the agricultural census began, data on 2,750,000 agricultural holdings and 18,840,000 agricultural parcels has been entered into the system. With ongoing surveys, approximately 80% of the study is complete. Work continues to identify agricultural lands not covered by the scope of the agricultural census. Data on identified agricultural lands will also be compiled as part of the agricultural census, and the full census portion of the study will be completed by December 31st.
FARMERS ARE OBLIGED TO PROVIDE REQUESTED INFORMATION
Within the scope of the general agricultural census, real persons obliged to provide information, all agricultural enterprises in the form of household partnerships regardless of the type of partnership, and enterprises carrying out agricultural activities with legal personality are obliged to provide the information requested by TÜİK in accordance with the relevant law.
Administrative fines are imposed on those who fail to provide the requested information within the specified timeframe without a valid excuse, or who provide incomplete or incorrect information. A written notification is required to comply with the legal procedure for responding to the administrative fine and information on the application of the fine.
As part of the general agricultural census, no farmers have received written notifications to date, nor have any administrative fines been imposed. While administrative fines are applied in exceptional cases, every facilitative measure is being taken to ensure farmers fulfill their legal obligations within the census and to ensure the compilation of accurate data.
