The Quran, sent to the Philippines by Sultan Abdulhamid II 137 years ago, was translated into the Maranao language.

According to a statement by TDV, as part of the "Let My Gift Be the Quran" project, 3,000 Quran translations were given as a gift to Moro Muslims living in the Mindanao region in the southern Philippines.

🔹 AA Live for instant updatesThe presentation of the Mushafs was carried out at a ceremony held at the Aga Khan Museum of Mindanao State University (MSU), following a letter written by President Erdoğan.
The Mushaf-i Sharif, which Sultan Abdulhamid II sent to the Mindanao region during Ramadan in 1888, was prepared by HR Alim Alapa.
The Turkish Religious Foundation also translated the Mushaf-i Sharif into the Maranao language and delivered it to the Moro people through the Türkiye-Philippines Friendship Foundation.
"We are walking on the path that opened 137 years ago"The Maranao translation of the letter sent by Sultan Abdulhamid II 137 years ago was delivered with a letter written by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
President Erdoğan used the following expressions in the letter:
"I am immensely happy to present this translation of our glorious book, the Holy Quran, prepared in the Maranao language, to you, our Moro brothers, who hold a special place in our heartland, by following the path opened 137 years ago by the late Abdulhamid Khan, the 34th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire.
I pray to God that this precious gift, prepared through the diligence and meticulous work of our Türkiye Diyanet Foundation, will strengthen our unity, solidarity, and eternal brotherhood. As the Turkish nation and the Republic of Turkey, we will continue to stand with the Muslim Moro people, as we have always done.
The Holy Quran, sent as a source of mercy and guidance for all humanity, will continue to illuminate our path as our guide in life until the Day of Judgment. I greet each of you with love and respect. May God Almighty help and guide you.
