The historical place that Alexander the Great could not take over has become a garbage dump and a toilet.

Those who saw the current state of the 2,500-year-old ancient Myndos Gate, located on Büyük İskender Street in the Eskiçeşme neighborhood of Muğla's Bodrum district and abandoned to its fate after being restored in 2008, were heartbroken.
The Ancient Myndos Gate and its ruins, built by King Mausolus of Halicarnassus in the 4th century BC and used by Alexander the Great during his occupation of the city and containing 17 tombs of his deceased commanders (Roman Tombs), have turned into a garbage dump and toilet due to neglect.
TOURISTS ARE UNABLE TO VISIT THE ANCIENT PLACE DUE TO THE DIRTIt was observed that local and foreign tourists who came to visit the ancient site during the day, which could have been visited in about 2 hours, returned within 10 minutes due to the foul smell caused by it being used as a toilet, and tour guides took the foreign tourists who wanted to visit back to their hotels and the incoming tourist ship after a quick and short tour.
"THOUSANDS OF TOURISTS ARE COMING HERE IN FLOCK, THIS IS ALL OF OUR SHAME"Professional tour guide and archaeologist Canset Küçükyıldız stated that the Myndos Gate has been in the same state since the beginning of the season. The lamps that illuminated the ancient site have rotted due to neglect, are being used as a garbage dump, and have become a hangout for alcoholics at night. Küçükyıldız also noted that the Myndos Gate and Ruins, a First-Degree Archaeological Site and second-most visited by thousands of tourists arriving by sea and land, are in a deplorable state after the Bodrum Museum. She said, “This is in the city center. Tourists can easily reach it on foot. Bodrum Castle, the Ancient Theater, and the Myndos Gate are on the tour routes of guides and agencies. They can't possibly be unaware of the deplorable state of this site, a legacy of King Mousolos and one of the most beautiful works in the world. This is a shame; we all just tell the tourists we bring here, without making them go any further. If they insist, we take a short tour and leave immediately. This disgrace needs to be cleaned up immediately.”
