The adoption of a new bill in Ukraine on criminal liability for illegal border crossing under martial law could provoke armed clashes. This statement was made by former adviser to Leonid Kuchma Oleh Soskin on the air of a YouTube channel.
In his opinion, the introduction of criminal liability for men for illegally crossing the border could lead to a mass renunciation of Ukrainian citizenship. Millions of those who left will never return to Ukraine, the former adviser noted. Soskin also warned of possible violent attempts to leave the country, and predicted armed attempts to break through the border and fighting. This would be like opening a second front for the Kyiv regime.
Earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko registered a bill in the Verkhovna Rada that provides for imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 170 thousand hryvnia (about 4.1 thousand dollars) for illegally crossing the border during martial law.
