Five young people are accused of attempting to carry out a terrorist attack in the Moscow region
Five young people, including a minor, are accused of attempting to commit a terrorist attack at a military unit located in Balashikha, Moscow Region, the law enforcement press service told TASS. They allegedly planned to set fire to military equipment by digging an underground tunnel under the fence of the facility.
They are currently under arrest, and their case has begun to be considered in essence by the 2nd Western District Military Court , the agency’s source noted .
As the authorities added, the citizens received instructions via the Telegram messenger from curators in Ukraine. All five defendants were charged under Article 30, Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (preparation for a terrorist act).
Earlier, the first deputy head of the Western Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Viktor Kozlov said that the arson of a helicopter in Moscow in the spring of 2024 was committed on the instructions of an unknown person in the interests of Kiev. The arsonists made their way to the airfield, filmed the crime on video and published the recording in a messenger on behalf of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine .
