NIZHNY NOVGOROD, June 21 – RIA Novosti. The condition of six people injured in a domestic gas explosion who were brought to Nizhny Novgorod from Kabardino-Balkaria is serious, all of them were placed in intensive care, four are on ventilators, the Privolzhsky Research Medical University (PIMU) reported. Six people injured in a domestic gas explosion in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria were admitted to the Burn Center of the PIMU University Clinic on June 20 at about 22:00 (Moscow time). The Federal Center for Disaster Medicine of the Russian Ministry of Health delivered four adults and two children to Nizhny Novgorod on an Il-76 aircraft of the Russian Emergencies Ministry. "All patients are in serious condition. A three-year-old child is on a ventilator, with burns covering up to 60% of his body surface. A one-year-old baby received a thermal flame burn on 25% of his body surface. Four adults aged 25 to 55 years old - with a lesion area of up to 70% of the body surface, three of them are on a ventilator. All six patients were hospitalized in the intensive care unit," said Igor Arefyev, chief physician of the University Clinic of PIMU. Earlier, the prosecutor's office and the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Kabardino-Balkaria reported that on Wednesday in the village of Argudan in the Leskensky District, a gas cylinder exploded in a private home. According to the Investigative Committee, the gas cylinder, which the owner of the home had removed from his car the day before, was depressurized and ignited. As a result, seven people were taken to hospitals, including two children born in 2023 and 2024. Experts assessed their condition as severe and critical. Interaction with leading federal centers in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod was organized via telemedicine, and a decision was made to transport six people with high-degree burns to Nizhny Novgorod. The condition of the patient, who remained for treatment in the burn department of the Republican Clinical Hospital in Nalchik, is assessed as moderate.
