Pernambuco Carnival is recognized as a cultural manifestation by law

The Carnival of Pernambuco was recognized by law as a manifestation of national culture . The legislation was published this Thursday (22) in the Official Gazette of the Union.
The law concerns Carnival in the various regions of the state. The recognition sheds light on expressions such as frevo, maracatu, caboclinho and other traditions that make Pernambuco's Carnival a unique spectacle.
With the enactment of the legislation, the popular manifestation that constitutes Carnival in the state now has legal support, strengthening initiatives to preserve and promote regional culture.
Parties across the stateCarnival is also a tourist and economic vector for the state. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the festivities attracted 2.3 million tourists this year and generated an economic movement of R$3.3 billion , an increase of 10% compared to 2024.
According to the State Department of Tourism and Leisure, the hotel occupancy rate was 96.16%, while Recife Airport registered the passage of more than 300 thousand passengers. The data also indicate that 93.78% of travelers intend to return for Pernambuco Carnival.
A CNN survey with consolidated data from Google Trends concluded that Pernambuco was the Brazilian state that most searched for Carnival in 2025 , leaving Bahia and Rio de Janeiro behind.
