Brazil has established itself as the fourth country that sends the most tourists to the United States , according to an unprecedented survey carried out by the Viva América office and sent exclusively to CNN . The study, which analyzes visa and immigration data, reveals a significant increase in the flow of Brazilians to American soil in the first three months of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024.

Despite the unfavorable exchange rate, with the dollar at R$5.66, almost half a million Brazilians visited the United States during the period analyzed. This number represents an increase of approximately 5% compared to the previous year, contrary to the downward trend observed in other countries.

Rafael Rezende, director of Viva América in Brazil, attributes Brazilians' interest in the United States to the strong cultural influence exerted by the country through series, films and cultural similarities. He also highlights future events that should intensify this flow, such as the FIFA Club World Cup in June this year and the 2026 World Cup, both hosted in the United States.

It is important to note that while Brazil is experiencing growth, neighboring countries such as Mexico and Canada have seen significant declines in tourist arrivals. Experts attribute this decline to political and economic tensions, including controversial statements and trade disputes.

The increase in the Financial Transactions Tax (IOF) for international transactions may impact future travel plans of Brazilians. However, recent history shows that, despite economic challenges, Brazil maintains its prominent position among the countries that send the most tourists to the United States.
