Two São Paulo fans had to be hospitalized after being hit by a metal plate that fell from the MorumBis stands during São Paulo's match against Libertad , in the Libertadores . The club says it is monitoring the situation and providing the necessary support.
According to a statement published by São Paulo, the sign fell in the West Ground Floor section of the stadium. The club says that it fell because some fans in the West Stand celebrated Lucca's goal in the 45th minute of the second half by hitting the sign. The images will be analyzed to identify those responsible.
Four people were hit, but only two required hospitalization. A 49-year-old man suffered a cut on his head. His 17-year-old son suffered bruises. Both were taken to Campo Limpo Hospital in stable condition and conscious, following the treatment protocol.
São Paulo says it continues to monitor the situation. If necessary, the club says it will work to transfer the patient to another hospital for treatment.
