Miguel Oliveira, 16 years old, finished the heats with 26.22 seconds, which gave him the 21st time (5th for his age), surpassing the previous Portuguese youth record that he already held, set at 26.29 on July 25, in Coimbra.

The passage to the semi-final of the 50 meter backstroke at the World Aquatics Junior Swimming Championships ended in 25.97 seconds, with the best time belonging to the American Gavin Keogh (25.18), among 87 swimmers.

Portugal's Zara Rojas finished the 50-meter butterfly heats with the 31st fastest time (27.55 seconds) among 103 swimmers. Qualification for the semifinals ended with a time of 27.14, with the fastest time being achieved by Japan's Mizuki Hirai.
