Benfica confirms full physical vote and identifies candidate lists

Benfica confirmed today that elections for the club's governing bodies will be held entirely by physical ballot box, in accordance with its statutes and in light of the opposition of three candidates to the electronic model.
“Given the opposition to electronic voting by the lists headed by João Ferreira Leite [General Assembly Board], João Diogo Manteigas and João Noronha Lopes, the elections will be held entirely using the traditional physical voting model, as indicated in the notice of their scheduling,” the General Assembly Board (MAG) said in a statement.
In the same note, the 'red' MAG made official the candidate names on the lists for the different corporate bodies, assigning the respective letters from now on.
List A includes a single candidate for the General Assembly Board, led by João Ferreira Leite, and which has the support of List C, led by João Diogo Manteigas, who is running with lists for the management, which he presides over, and the Supervisory Board.
With candidacies for all bodies, Martim Lima Mayer is on list B, Luís Filipe Vieira is on list E, João Noronha Lopes is on list F and Rui Costa is on list G.
Candidate Cristóvão Carvalho is running on list D, which only has candidates for the Management body.
Benfica's elections are scheduled for October 25th, between 8:00 and 22:00, with voting in Lisbon taking place in Pavilion number one and number two of Estádio da Luz, on the same day that the 'red' team hosts Arouca, in the I football league.
Voting locations are planned across the continent, in several districts from north to south, in the autonomous regions of Madeira (Funchal) and the Azores (in São Miguel and Terceira), in locations in Europe (Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), in Africa (Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde), and in the Americas (Brazil, in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro; Canada, in Montreal and Toronto; the United States, in Newark and New Bedford).
Running for election at the Lisbon club are the current president, Rui Costa, the former president Luís Filipe Vieira, João Noronha Lopes, João Diogo Manteigas, Martim Mayer and Cristóvão Carvalho.
If none of the candidates receives the majority of votes (50%) in the election, a second round will be held between the two candidates with the most votes, two weeks later, on November 8th.
In the election four years ago, Rui Costa was elected president of Benfica with 84.48% of the votes, against Francisco Benítez's 12.24%, in the most competitive election in the history of the Benfica club, with 40,085 voters.
