1st Transnational Competition of the European Partnership One Health – Antimicrobial Resistance

The European Partnership One Health – Antimicrobial Resistance (OH-AMR), which includes the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), will launch its first joint transnational call for proposals on November 18th to fund research and innovation projects, under the theme "New treatments to tackle AMR". This call involves the participation of funding institutions from 28 countries and aims to support projects that contribute to developing new approaches to combat antimicrobial resistance.

The research and innovation proposals submitted to this competition must focus on one of the following themes:

  1. To identify and develop new combination treatments , using existing or innovative antimicrobials, or combining antimicrobials with complementary treatments, with the aim of prolonging the effectiveness of medications and combating resistance.
  2. Develop tools and methods to improve adherence to treatment protocols .
  3. To assess the impact of antimicrobial use in veterinary medicine and agriculture on the risk of transmission of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to humans and the environment, with a view to informing policies that restrict the use of certain antimicrobials in human medicine.

Applications can be submitted from November 18, 2025 to February 2, 2026 , until 12:00 PM (Continental Portugal time). To support potential candidates, an informative webinar will be held on November 26 at 1:00 PM (Continental Portugal time).

The OH-AMR Partnership is co-financed by the Horizon Europe program and promotes an integrated One Health approach, encompassing human, animal, plant, and environmental health, with the goal of preventing and controlling antimicrobial resistance (AMR). It brings together 53 entities from 30 countries, including Portugal, represented by the FCT and the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB).
