Accident/Elevator: José Luís Carneiro demands that all responsibilities be determined

The general secretary of the Socialist Party, José Luís Carneiro, today demanded that all responsibilities be determined for the derailment of the Glória elevator in Lisbon, which killed 17 people on Wednesday.
Upon arrival in Lisbon after a visit to Angola, José Luís Carneiro told reporters that all responsibilities must be determined “at all hierarchical levels.”
On the other hand, José Luís Carneiro, who offered his condolences to the families of the victims, suggested that the Government coordinate international contacts to support the families.
"There are several foreign citizens, and it is very important that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can work with the international representations accredited in Lisbon," said José Luís Carneiro.
The Glória elevator, in Lisbon, derailed on Wednesday, at 6:04 pm, on Calçada da Glória.
According to the Judicial Police, in addition to the 17 dead, 23 people were injured.
The Glória elevator is managed by Carris and connects Restauradores to the Jardim de São Pedro de Alcântara, in Bairro Alto, over a distance of approximately 265 meters.
The Government has declared today a day of national mourning.
The PS secretary-general returned to Lisbon today, after a trip to Angola where he met, in particular, with Angolan President João Lourenço, with whom he discussed the Portuguese Government's proposals on the Nationality Law.
