ECB leaves interest rates unchanged again

The decision was expected, and the European Central Bank followed suit: it maintained key interest rates, including the deposit rate, at 2.00%, considered neutral for the eurozone.
"The disinflation process is over," said ECB President Christine Lagarde, adding that "inflation is where we want it to be . " "There was a unanimous decision in the ECB Governing Council to leave interest rates unchanged. We discussed the projections and the risks, but what I'm telling you is something that was unanimous around the table," she added.
Regarding this decision, Irene Lauro, eurozone economist at Schroders, argued that the ECB "appears to confirm our view today that the easing cycle has come to an end," adding that, "with trade uncertainty dissipating, the eurozone's recovery should accelerate." The economist also added that "the economy's resilience and strengthening domestic demand mean that the ECB can afford to keep monetary policy unchanged."
