The other Summit

Nothing new in Anchorage. They called it a summit. It was an aerial spectacle. "My plane is bigger than yours." Thanks for helping me stop being a fugitive. That summit—what a name!—was nothing more than a rubber stamp on Putin's plans. And Trump acted as a notary.
"I want Luhansk and Donetsk. I want the fronts where they are, and therefore Zaporizhia and Kherson as well. Crimea is out of the question," Putin said. Trump swallowed. No ceasefire. No peace. Munich again. Chamberlain as the American president. And Yalta in the air.
Trump didn't give up. He made no progress with Ukraine, but he opened the doors to Putin. The doors that had been closed in 2014. And in 2022. He "summoned" Zelensky to the Oval Office. Another trap. But unlucky this time.
Zelensky goes to Washington. But he's not going alone. He's bringing at least seven others. And what a seven! Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron, Giorgia Meloni (this PM is establishing herself on the global stage), Friedrich Merz, Ursula von der Leyen, Mark Rutte, Alexander Stubb. Trump has won the lottery. He can't get rid of them. They are allies who only want to know one thing: after all, who did Alaska serve?
Putin won. He reaffirmed everything. He took the world stage. Trump also got his role: to trap Zelensky in the White House trap.
