David Carreira headlines the Monte Gordo festivities

For five days, the program includes music, dance, religious celebrations, traditional games, DJ performances and a fireworks display.
On September 10th, the celebration of the Eucharist, accompanied by the Musical Band of the VRSA Cultural Association, marks the beginning of the festivities, starting at 9:00 pm.
Dance takes center stage the following day, September 11, with performances by the Academia de Baile Gracia Diaz (9:30 pm), the Splash Dance Crew (10:30 pm) and the Santo António de Arenilha Ethnographic Group (11:00 pm).
On Friday, September 12, musical entertainment will be provided by Nelson Santos (10:00 pm), Banda 3AM (11:00 pm) and DJ Mel (12:30 am).
Saturday, September 13th, begins with music by Zé Aníbal (9:30 pm) and continues with a performance by the group Sons do Minho (10:30 pm), which promises to entertain the audience with popularly inspired songs and challenging songs.
The evening concludes with a festive show, Time Travel (12:00 AM), a concept combining music and dance, led by Possessivo and DJ Karussa. The show takes the audience on an interactive journey through the songs that have shaped generations.
On Sunday, September 14th, the day begins early with the 8:00 a.m. reveille, accompanied by the VRSA Cultural Association's Musical Band. This is followed by the celebration of the Eucharist (10:00 a.m.), traditional games such as Pau de Sebo (Greasy Pole) (11:00 a.m.), and the Rowboat Race at noon on Monte Gordo Beach.
The afternoon begins with the recitation of the rosary (4:00 p.m.), but the highlight is the procession in honor of Our Lady of Sorrows, which brings together hundreds of faithful every year. The procession, scheduled for 5:00 p.m., passes along Monte Gordo beach and is accompanied by fishing boats, which announce their passage with the sound of their horns.
Artist David Carreira headlines Sunday night, taking the stage at 10:00 PM with his Última Dança tour. Recognized as one of the most versatile artists of his generation, David Carreira has achieved national and international success.
The festivities end in style, with a fireworks display starting at midnight, followed by a performance by DJ Paulo Karussa (00:15), who promises a musical journey through the 80s and 90s.
The Festivities in Honor of Our Lady of Sorrows are organized by the Municipal Council of Vila Real de Santo António, the Parish Council of Monte Gordo, the Artisanal Fishing Association of the Bay of Monte Gordo, the Association of Shellfish Gatherers of the Beach of Monte Gordo and the Sports Group «Os Cuícos».
Barlavento
