A brutal foul and a red card for the world champion! He apologized immediately.
Before the 17th heat, both teams had won all four 5-1. When Unia rider Antoni Mencel lost his cool at the start and crashed into the line, it seemed nothing could deny Motor another gold medal. Especially since it was the home rider, Wiktor Przyjemski, who had the best start in the rematch.
Kacper Mania, incredibly fast that day, began to push and chase him. He caught up with him on the final bend and launched a decisive attack on the outside. Przyjemski glanced at him and deliberately slid right up to the barrier, sticking out a wheel at the last moment to prevent his rival from overtaking him. But the driver was driven and couldn't let go. He crashed dangerously to the track just beyond the finish line.
The Leszno camp was seething with outrage, as the foul was brutal. However, referee Piotr Lis quickly cooled the heat, sending off Przyjemski and giving him a red card. The match was declared 3-2 in Unia's favor.
Przyjemski's expulsion from the competition sealed the championship. Only Bartosz Bańbor was able to qualify for Motor's final heat against Stal Gorzów. He lost 4-2, alone. Leszczyński only had to repeat that result against Polonia Bydgoszcz. The match was briefly a shock, as their opponents led 5-1, but then Mania once again surged on the outside and secured Unia the gold medal.
Motor had to settle for silver, and bronze went to the juniors of TŻ Ostrovia Ostrów Wlkp.
Przyjemski expressed remorsePrzyjemski was ejected from the remainder of the competition and couldn't even make it to the awards ceremony to receive his silver medal. However, he apologized to his rival immediately after the race.
After the competition, he published a post in which he admitted that he regretted the situation and that it was a lesson in humility for him.
"Together with Bartosz Bańbor, we scored 24 points and took second place for Motor Lublin in the final of the Polish Youth Pairs Club Championships. Thank you all for your support and cheering – it was an evening full of emotions."
Unfortunately, something I regret happened – my overly aggressive maneuver resulted in Kacper Mania falling. I received a red card for this and couldn't continue the race. It wasn't intentional – emotions, adrenaline, and the will to fight took over. After the race, I apologized to Kacper, we high-fived, and we cleared everything up.
Due to the red card, I was also unable to participate in the medal ceremony and didn't appear on the podium. Sometimes the track teaches you more than the result," wrote the world champion, and he deserves praise for such quick reflection.
