The Prime Minister has spilled the beans. Behind-the-scenes game with the Germans

- German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited Warsaw on Wednesday and met with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
- Tusk stressed that Polish-German cooperation regarding NATO infrastructure will also be needed.
- These words may refer to talks about the construction of a NATO oil pipeline from Germany to Poland.
The new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz went on his first foreign visits: on Wednesday he visited France, where he met with President Emmanuel Macron, and then Poland, where he talked with Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
During the press conference, Tusk and Merz declared their readiness to cooperate in expanding the infrastructure connecting the two countries. They agreed on the need to expand railway lines, including connecting Warsaw and Berlin with a high-speed rail line.
Tusk noted that Polish-German cooperation regarding NATO infrastructure in Central Europe will also be necessary. As he said, for many years this infrastructure de facto "ended at the Elbe", and now it should end at the Bug.
According to experts, these words may refer to talks about the construction of a NATO oil pipeline from Germany to Poland. What exactly could this be about? As reported in February by "Der Spiegel:
- NATO is considering the possibility of building a pipeline system that would connect Germany with Poland and the Czech Republic.
- This would ensure the supply of fuel to troops on the eastern flank in the event of an attack from Russia.
- NATO is aware that the biggest logistical challenge could be ensuring a constant supply of fuel for the troops.
"Der Spiegel" explained that the pipeline ending in Bramsche would be extended to Poland. The second line would run from Bavaria to the Czech Republic.
The project will cost 21 billion euros and is scheduled for completion in 2035. Germany is ready to finance the work for an amount of over 3.5 billion euros - we read.
The pipeline is to run under the Weser and Elbe rivers and through protected areas, among other places. This may require additional agreements and additional costs.
