The president vetoed the reduction of health insurance contributions

Let us recall that President Andrzej Duda vetoed the act reducing health insurance contributions for entrepreneurs. The president's decision was announced on Tuesday by the head of his office, Małgorzata Paprocka, indicating, among other things, that:

the Act raises very serious doubts in terms of social justice and is contrary to constitutional principles.

The change passed by the Parliament applies to over 2.5 million business owners and was to cost the state budget PLN 4.6 billion.

The amendment introduced a two-element basis for calculating health insurance contributions for entrepreneurs:

  • up to a certain level it would be a flat rate,
  • on excess income - percentage.

Higher contributions than currently would be paid by taxpayers with the highest income who settle their tax on a lump sum basis on recorded income.
